Alan Baldwin has been involved in the mobile and wireless telecoms industry for over 15 years working for a number of Tier 1 product and platform vendors. He has a strong background in embedded software development and has lead many succesful software development projects through his time in the industry. He has a strong interest in web technology, software architecture and systems engineering, and holds a BSc honours degree from Southampton university.
Alan has a very strong background in product, platform and applications development; with many commercially successful projects delivered across millions of devices for global markets. In more recent years he has become an expert within the field of mobile web technologies and was part of Samsung’s team that began working on the OMTP BONDI project.
He now leads the Technology Innovation Group for Samsung which helps define the roadmap for Samsung’s Mobile R&D teams, based on technology trends and also the Operator customer requirements. He has been involved with the webinos project through from its intial proposal stages.
Within the webinos project Alan’s main interests and focus are:
- Overall platform architectures
- Work Package 4 – Particular Development of the Mobile and PC platforms (Samsung are task leading WP4.1)
- Work Package 5 – Proof of Concept Applications – Samsung are leading the task to specify the proof of concept applications
- Work package 7 – Dissemination
Alan is also part of the webinos project management board, and the sits on the webinos domain expert group for consumer electronics.
