BMW Group Research and Technology (BMW Forschung und Technik GmbH) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the BMW Group and has, since 2003, been responsible for researching in Vehicle Technology (vehicle concepts, mechatronics and lightweight systems), Efficient Dynamics (energy management, innovative powertrain concepts, energy storage systems, fuel cells), Connected Drive (driver assistance systems, active safety, human machine interface) and ITDrive (IT architecture and communications technologies). The legal independence of the limited company (GmbH) guarantees the operation’s creative freedom and maximises its flexibility. Its access to worldwide trends and technologies is ensured by an international network with the BMW Group Technology Office USA in Mountain View (California), the Liaison Office Clemson (South Carolina, USA), the institute EURECOM (Sophia Antipolis, France), the German Research Centre for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI GmbH, Saarbrücken) and the Technische Universität München (CAR@TUM).
The department ITDrive of BMW Group Research and Technology has joined webinos to fully integrate vehicles in the connected lifestyle of our customers. webinos will assist BMW Group Research and Technology to enable a seamless handling of services and applications across different devices for customers – whether an app runs inside a car, on a smart phone, a pc or a TV.
